Variable Data Printing is the term for printing where different text or graphics may be different from one printed piece to the next without slowing down or stopping the printing process. The variability is pulled from a database; for example, putting each prospect's first name on a mailpiece (see the sample to the right) would involve pulling a "First Name" field out of the database and printing it into a spot on the mailpiece.

This allows you to customize your mailpiece for each individual prospect, increasing your Return On Investment since the mailpiece is now more relevant to the customer.
